Among all the elements in fashion, I favor longness of clothes the most. Long cardigan, long coat, maxi-dress, t-shirt dress... longness does the magic to your body, they slimmer and lengthen your body and add in the elegance. What I want to share with you is what I think the new weapon for chic-shirtdress.
Shirtdress is both a shirt and a dress, it can function as either one of them. It's not hyper-feminine as a dress but not so dull as a shirt, I think it's the perfect fashion item for expressing chicness. However, the tartan plaids oversized shirt with belt on kinda shirtdress isn't the case; it screams soccer mom. The fashionable to wear it is a, wear it as a jacket, or b, wear it loosely without belt on.
Here are some chic shirtdress:
ASOS, $56
Diesel, $133
Finders Keepers Hearts On Fire
Paul Smith, $300-800
MM6 by Martin Margiela, $455
T by Alexander Wang, $311
Band Of Outsiders, $465
Y's by Yohji Yamamoto
Alexander Wang, $725
How to wear it? Like I said, wear it loosely as it is. Or pair it wear a jacket or cape. Here are some good examples:
